In a single AWE Lesson . .

. . . students experience what would take several lessons somewhere else.

An elementary student follows along during a reading lesson. He reads the story, sounding out the words he knows. Harder words are attempted, but sometimes with difficulty. Along with the help of an AWE tutor, the elementary student is able to decode the sounds. In this way, his struggling with reading turns into a pleasant experience. He looks at pictures to help understand the context of the text.wp-1471823969396.jpg

AWE Lessons

AWE lessons are student-centered. For example, even siblings receive a different set of services. Each lesson, based on developmentally appropriate activities, matches the intellectual, psychological, social and affectual stages of each student. No two students are ever alike. Students naturally become motivated during each lesson. They leave their lesson feeling a sense of accomplishment. A delicate balance exists in each student. This balance needs to be maintained and kept in mind at all times. In this way, the student is not overwhelmed during a lesson, but rather, stimulated to keep trying, keep learning, keep reading.

Please note: These services involve more than content-based learning. Moreover, during each lesson a rapport builds with each student. This rapport develops into trust. With trust established, the AWE tutor problem-solves ways to help students build skills to reach goals. These goals lead to success which makes AWE work so rewarding!
